December 1st 2018 | Central Illinois Tornado Outbreak

A powerful early winter storm system was responsible for the 3rd largest tornado outbreak in Illinois history on Saturday, December 1st 2018. I followed one cyclic tornado from west of Jackonville, IL to Beardstown, IL as it produced 4 or 5 separate tornadoes, one of which struck the town of Beardstown.

I later saw a distant tornado at dusk near Kilbourne, IL and a final lightning illuminated tornado near Decatur from the same supercell that had devastated the town of Taylorville, IL with an EF-3 tornado. In all I witnessed 6-8 highly visible tornadoes over a several hour period.
